Adverb: যে Word কোন Adjective, Verb বা অপর কোন Adverb কে বিশেষিত করে তাকে Adverb বলে। যেমনঃ-
1. He walks slowly
2. Really he is an honest man.
3. Certainly he will come.
Adverb প্রধানত তিন প্রকার। যথাঃ
(a) Simple Adverb
(b) Interrogative Adverb
(c) Relative or Conjunctive Adverb.
(a) Simple Adverb: যে Adverb কোন word বা sentence কে modify করে তাকে Simple adverb বলে। যেমনঃ
I am extremely busy today.
Unfortunately he missed the train.
(b) Interrogative Adverb: যে Adverb কোন প্রশ্ন জিজ্ঞেস করতে ব্যবহ্রত হয় তাকে Interrogative adverb বলে। যেমনঃ
Where did you go yesterday?
When will you come home?
Why are you crying?
(c) Relative or Conjunctive Adverb: যে Adverb দুটি বাক্যকে যুক্ত করে এবং তার Antecedent এর সংগে সম্পর্ক প্রকাশ করে৷ তাকে Relative Adverb বলে। যেমনঃ
Do you know the time when he will come?
I know the place where he livesl.
Classification of Simple adverb
Simple adverb আট প্রকার। যথাঃ
1. Adverb of time: যে Adverb কোন কার্য সম্পন্ন হওয়ার সময় নির্দেশ করে তাকে Adverb of time বলে। যেমনঃ
He came here yesterday.
He is always busy.
Have you ever been to Cox's Bazar?
আরও কিছু Adverb of time এর উদাহরণঃ today, tomorrow, daily, early, now, then, when, while, soon, since, ago, after, before, already, often, again, presently, formerly, afterwards, immediately, instantly, sometimes, ever, never. ইত্যাদি।
2. Adverb of place: যে Adverb কোন কার্য সম্পন্ন হওয়ার স্থান নির্দেশ করে তাকে Adverb of place বলে। যেমনঃ
please come here.
The news is collected locally.
আরও কিছু Adverb of place এর উদাহরণঃ Here, there, hither, everywhere, anywhere, nowhere, far, near, nearly, away, abroad, ahead, overhead, nextdoor, out if door, inside, outside, in, out, up, down, above, below. ইত্যাদি।
3. Adverb of manner: যে Adverb কোন কার্য সম্পন্ন হওয়ার পদ্ধতি বা ধরণ নির্দেশ করে তাকে Adverb of manner বলে। যেমনঃ
He entered the room slowly.
Rahim speak English fluently.
আর ও কিছু Adverb of manner এর উদাহরণঃ Silently, aloud, loudly, justly, probably, gently, hardly, well, thus, how, so, wisely, badly, quickly. ইত্যাদি।
4. Adverb of degree: যে Adverb কোন কার্য সম্পন্ন হওয়ার পরিমাণ বা মাত্রা নির্দেশ করে তাকে Adverb of degree বলে। যেমনঃ
He is quite happy.
The fruit is almost ripe.
