একজন সহকারি প্রধান শিক্ষকের বেশ কিছু দায়িত্ব ও কর্তব্য পালন করতে হয়। তার মধ্যে অন্যতম কিছু মৌলিক কাজ নিম্নরূপ ।
১। নিয়মিত প্রাত্যহিক সমাবেশের উদ্যোগ নিবেন এবং সময় ও উপস্থিত থাকবেন।
২। প্রতিমাসে শ্রেণি শিক্ষকের মাধ্যমে হাজিরা খাতায় ছাত্র-ছাত্রীর নাম উঠানোর ব্যবস্থা নিবেন ।
৩। শ্রেণি কার্যক্রম সুষ্ঠভাবে পরিচালনার জন্য শ্রেণি শিক্ষকদেরকে ক্লাসে পাঠাবেন।
৪। পেশাদারী ও নৈতিক দায়িত্ববোধ থেকে প্রতিষ্ঠান প্রধানের দেয়া দায়িত্ব পালন করবেন।
৫। শ্রেণি শিক্ষকের মাধ্যমে শিক্ষার্থীর প্রোগ্রেস রিপোর্ট তৈরি করবেন এবং রেজিষ্ট্রার খাতায় লিখবেন।
৬। শ্রেণি শিক্ষকের মাধ্যমে সবল, দূর্বল, অধিক দূর্বল, বিদ্যালয়ে অনুপস্থিত শিক্ষার্থীর তথ্য সংরক্ষণ করবেন।
৭। যথাযথ আইসিটি ব্যবহার, শিক্ষা উপকরণ ব্যবহার ও পাঠ পরিকল্পনা করে অংশগ্রহন মূলক ক্লাস নিতে উৎসাহ দিবেন এবং তদারকি করবেন।
৮।নিজেস্ব গঠনমূলক কোনো পরামর্শ থাকলে প্রতিষ্ঠান প্রধানের সাথে আলোচনা করে সে অনুযায়ী কাজ করবেন।
৯।শিক্ষার্থীদেরকে তাদের লক্ষ্যে পৌছাতে প্রয়োজনীয় উপদেশ দিয়ে সাহায্য করবেন।
১০। শ্রেণি শিক্ষকদের পেশাগত মান উন্নয়নের জন্য প্রধান শিক্ষকের পরামর্শক্রমে নিজ বিদ্যালয়ে ইন হাউজ ট্রেনিং করাবেন।

An assistant head teacher has to fulfill several responsibilities and duties. Among them some of the basic works are as follows.
1. He will take the initiative of regular daily assembly on time.
2. Every month, through the class teacher, the students' names will be recorded in the attendance book.
3.He will send the class teacher to the class room to conduct the class activities properly.
4. He will perform the duties given by the head of the organization from a sense of professional and ethical responsibility.
5. Through the class teacher he will prepare the student's progress report and write it in the register book.
6. Through the class teacher will save the information of strong, weak, more weak, absent students in school.
7. He will encourage and supervise participatory classes with appropriate use of ICT, use of teaching materials and lesson planning.
8. If Assistent head teacher have any constructive suggestions, he will discuss with the head of the organization and act accordingly.
9. Help the students to achieve their goals by giving necessary advice.
10. In order to improve the professional standards of class teachers, they will conduct in-house training in their schools as per the advice of the head teacher.
